Septo Rhinoplasty
|
Question: Yaron and all others, I have severe whiplash problems. Does anyone on
this list have muscles that are so tight in their neck, shoulders, and
back that drugs nor physical therapy or anything else has been able to
release the tightness. The thought from my physical therapist is that
there was some damage done to the brain or brain stem that is giving the
wrong signal to the muscles. drugs do not seem to be able to intervene
even to stop the muscles getting tight and muscle spasms. I also have
this tortureous tingling,electrical,vibrating,pulsing,cursing sensation
that goes through my body with any movement, sometimes as little as
moving my eyeballs.when the muscles are the tightest the tingling etc is
worse. These sensation disturb my balance and cause me to sit and not
want to move. This problem was relieved one time about 5 months ago when
a dr. adjusted c1-c2 and whatever was happening in that area the
adjustment relieved the tingling, etc. sensation. About one month ago I
had mechanical traction on a monday and the following thursday. This
tingling came back and has only gotten worse and worse since then. I
have had the dr. adjust c1-c2 several times since then but it has not
relieved the symptoms. I also had nose surgery 2 wks ago and after that
the tingling was the worst ever. They were very careful not to
hyperextend my neck during intubation and the 3 hour long surgery.
However, things have been just short of living in an internal torture
camp. I would appreciate any and all ideas as to what this may be or
what I can do. It is really driving me crazy. I am now in need of my
dog, a Great Dane for use as a service dog to help me maintain balance
when I walk. Driving is even kinda scary as I feel rather spacey. I also
have severe myoclonus jerking that was documented by a sleep study. I
had myoclonic jerks 20 times an hour with them arousing me 84% of the
time that I was asleep. I only showed sleeping brain waves four and one
half hours out of eight hours. I had little to none REM sleep. The dr
that analyzed the sleep study said he has never seen a sleep study
result quite like this. I swear I am an alien here to visit just to
confuse the confused drs. even more. Heck, I could not even have a
normal septo-rhinoplasty(nose Surgery); the plastic surgeon said it was
the hardest nose surgery he has ever done. He also had a hellasious time
with bleeding on the left side of the nose during surgery. It seems that
I am a challege wherever I go. FYI the nose had to be operated on as The
Great,Great Dane bumped my nose hard enough to locate it too far to the
right and left the left side of my nose completely blocked to air on the
left side. Also had my arm operated on in july to have the plate taken
out. If you need any other information to put this mess in some
semblence of order,
Answer: Have you had BAER test to check if you have any malignant
growth on the brain stem? I had to undergo the BAER test and Vestibular
studies, ENG, to make sure the vertigo/imbalance pbms are not from either
the brain or the ear (vestibule). Then, they discovered a sore neck.
So I did a Dynamic Motion X-Ray of the Cervical area, and lo and behold:
It was all there, torn ligaments left right and center! Today, I got the
name of what I have: Listhesis. The joints are damaged and slide around
too much,
that causes a lot of pain. Now, having had pains from my TMJ/D, and TBI, and
the lower back (spasms), I could not tell where pains was coming from all
these years following the accident. Now, the carrier is refusing to treat me,
saying I have never complaint about it, so it's too late?! Bulls! I read
my old
records from two doctors already in 10/93 & 12/93 who specifically stated in
their diagnoses that I had cervical problems, and vertigo, and tinnutisiss.
As I am under medication right now to dilate my constricted blood vessels
that flow through my brain stem, the neurologist does not want to do much
about the neck, and suggests to leave it for later. But, during all those
years, my excellent chiropractor, Dr. Shapiro, has been adjusting my neck
all the time!!
Consequently, what I can suggest, based on my experience, is that you read
my post in response to yours (this one:) and decide if it makes sense to
you, and if it does, ask for those tests. There are specialists who deal
only with neck problems, I have two names, but it won't do you any good
where you are.
