Rhinoplasty Procedures
|
Question: In the Bashir interview,
Michael confesses he's had rhinoplasties for BREATHING DIFFICULTIES.
any suggetion?
Answer: A rhinoplasty doesn't entail whittling the patient's nose down to
nothing
There are rhinoplasty procedures for breathing difficulties where a cosmetic
difference is barely, if at all, recognizable
I believe that rhinoplasty is to modify external features of the nose. If
he had breathing difficulties, he would certainly have had either a
septoplasy for deviated septum (wonky bridge inside the nose that divides
the nostrils), a sub-mucosal resection or even a tubinectomy procedure to
enlarge his turbinates at the back of the nose to provide improved
breathing. I think that rhinoplasty can only be justified in this case as a
"medical" procedure if there was a lot of damage from an accident. In
Michael's case, I think that this would have been a possibility in 1979.
However, his nose looks a lot different now than it did around '82-'83. He
has had at least one more procedure since then to further modify the shape
and appearance of his nose. I belive that this last procedure (probably
done in the mid to late '80's) has destroyed the natural balance of his face
which is why everybody keeps talking about his nose.
