Rhinoplasty Dallas
|
Question: I had a rhinoplasty three years ago and the plastic surgeon (prominent
Dallas plastic surgeon) that performed the operation created a
horizontal external incision on top of my nose in order to lift the
tip. He told me this is done all the time and the scar will heal and
it won't be noticed. Three years later I have a one-inch scar on my
nose and it is very visible. The plastic surgeon does not return my
call and refuse to give me an appointment. Last time I talked to him,
he said scar is a manly thing and tell people you got the scar in some
adventurous event. Has anybody ever heard of such operation where the
scar is on the outside and on top of the nose? Is there any legal
action I can take against this surgeon?
Answer: I would first confirm with his office staff that the original surgeon
truly refuses to see you for a consultation regarding scar revision of
a previous rhinoplasty. If so, consult with a new plastic surgeon and
ask about typical incision patterns, etc.
A horizontal incision on the upper nasal dorsum to lift the tip isn't
done as a standard practice. If he was going to do this he should have
warned you.
You could sue him for whatever damage you have sustained as a result of
the scar, if you could establish surgical wrongdoing. Damage would
depend on a lot of things, including employment as an actor, etc.
Your scar could also be revised to attempt to normalize the appearance.
A horizontal scar in that location is in a skin crease, and should be
pretty much removable, if the downward pull from the nose is not an
issue. The surgeon who did the case should be willing to discuss this
with you. He should be more than qualified to do the procedure.
My gut feeling is that this isn't worth a lawsuit, though those seedy
little subhumanoid basturds[attorneys] will do almost anything these
days.
