Today I saw my ENT, and he is going to have me talk to his surgeon. I have
a slightly deviated septum, but what really screws me up is the soft tissue
swelling. He's thinking surgery to cut some of it out and/or to fix the
deviation.
My thoughts are to do something akin to sommnoplasty but in my nose instead
to prevent the swelling without having to cut into bone. When the doc
originally saw me he thought that surgery would be a bad idea because the
soft tissue would just swell up more to take the same space, and I'd be back
at square one.
I do telephone sales for a living right now (in addition to playing piano
gigs), and am wondering what types of surgery there are out there regarding
this, what the recovery times are like, and if I'm going to look like Cyrano
after the operation (I don't now).
Answer:
I had my turbinates and septum fixed because my turbinates were always
swelling up and now they are not so I am not sure what the doctor is talking
about.
I had my nose done by an maxiolfacial surgery and I think my nose was
lasered.
No problems with my nose other than I breathe better with it. I had it done
just to make sure the swelling of the turbinates was not a problem.
