Answer: Not a nose experience, but a healing one... When I had my
wisdom teeth out this summer, one of my friends was *astounded* when
I felt up to going out for the day and eating out, etc. about two
days after they were removed. I only needed the painkillers on the
first day, as well. (After that, normal advil worked pretty well to
cope with the general acheyness I got.)
I think the secret was that when I went home from having them
out, my mom put me to bed with a package of frozen peas on each
cheek. (I was still out of it from the general anesthetic, anyway,
so I could sleep even though my face was cold.) She and my dad took
turns making sure the bags never defrosted too much, and she sent me
to bed with them that night as well. I had some swelling, but not
nearly as much as any of my friends, and it really didn't hurt much
at all. (The worst bit after the first day was when the stitches started
to fall out- they were the dissolving kind, and they kept losening so
I'd end up accidentally biting on one end and pulling it out. Ouch.)
I don't know if it's recommended or not for nose-surgery,
but if it is, put ice packs on and be *obsessive* about it. It really
does make a *huge* difference. (I suspect there's probably a bit
more trauma involved in nose-surgery, but every little bit helps.)
Also, again if it's medically sound, warm compresses after the first
24 hours or so help get rid of the annoying swelling. (My face was
back to normal within a week, easily.)
