Laser Nose Surgery
|
Question: Is fess surgery, or endoscopic surgery which has been referred to in other
posts, the same as "laser
nasal surgery"? I'm considering the Rhinocare Laser Nose Surgery Center
who is running an ad in local paper. It says patients report a 98%
success rate, immediate recovery with
virtually no pain or discomfort, no inflammation, breathe better almost
immediately.
Answer: Laser surgery of the nose and sinus is of no special significance. Its like
you chopped the onion with a 4 inch or a 6 inch knife. Its like saying you
use clean sheets in surgery.
Before you answer ads in the newspaper, you should talk to your family doctor
and get his/her opinion.
the term 98% success rate has NEVER appeared in any medical journal article,
but does appear on the internet for bora bora root. Depends on your definition
of success.
Endoscopic surgery means telescopes are used through the nose. Whether you use
a drill or suction or forceps or whatever has little bearing on the surgery
itself. What is important is;
is the surgery indicated?
have non surgical means been exhausted?
does the surgeon know his anatomy and limlitations?
If you have time, check out the web sites linked at my list of specialists with
web sites. You won't find any that list 98% success. that doesn't mean they
aren't good people or good surgeons.
