Dr Davis Rhinoplasty
|
Question: I am thinking about getting Rhinoplasty in a few weeks. The surgeon is one
of the most reputable, experienced (and expensive) I could find, who has
worked on tons of Hollywood Elite and is referenced in many industry
publications. He says is will be open Rhinoplasty with the operation
lasting three hours, difficulty level of a 6 on a level of 1 to 10.
Just how traumatic of an experience will this be for me? I'm a somewhat
resillient 30-something years of age, perfectly healthy, but never had
cosmetic surgery. I don't do too well with pain, and have a pretty weak
stomach. What am I really getting myself into here? How long will my
recovery be? How serious is this?
Answer: I had a rhinoplasty about 6 years ago, and I don't remember the pain
being too bad. There was a lot of swelling and my eyes were purple
for about a week, but after a week, I went back to work and it wasn't
noticable. I recommend buying some frozen peas though, and putting
them on your nose a LOT. This helps with the swelling (the peas are
small and mold to your face better than an ice pack.) If you're
worried about the pain, the dr. will give you a painkiller (i had
hydrocodone) and just make sure you take it every 4 hours or whatever,
before the pain even gets a chance to start. I do remember though, I
went back to the dr. a few weeks later for a checkup, and he took off
the bandages and did some manual realignment with his hands, and that
hurt like hell! I passed out. But everything was absolutely worth
the discomfort.
