Cost For A Nose Job
|
Question: I would like to know what the approximate cost of a tracheal shave is,
and what other people's experiences have been finding a Dr. and what the
healing process is like.
I am based in Boston, so if anyone knows of Dr.s in the area I would
appreciate a pointer to them.
Answer: I paid about $1400.00 "out-the-door" out here on the West Coast two years
ago. It's cheaper (per procedure) if you have something else done with
it, eg., a nose job, cheek implants, whatever. It's that "Chinese menu"
bundling effect.
By itself, it's typically an office procedure (no hospital stay), and
it's relatively non-traumatic. Some swelling on the neck near the
incision occurs, but that went away for me within a few weeks. The scar
faded to near-invisibility after about six months. It looks like a faint
neck wrinkle now. The doctor may choose to use an existing fold on the
neck for the incision site.
However, *make sure* you find a doctor who's qualified to do this. An
otolaryngologist (ear-nose-throat) may be the best bet, although a lot of
plastic surgeons who've handled TSs are familiar with this procedure.
There are a few horror stories of over-aggressive surgery, with resultant
vocal chord damage. Caveat emptor.
